We have a unique problem in the 21st century. Even though we know everything, we still can’t get results.
We know that:
If we do yoga/exercise daily, we will be physically fit
If we eat home-cooked food, we will be healthy
If we avoid high sugar, salt and oily foods, we will have fewer ailments
If we invest regularly, we will be wealthy
Yes, we are all aware of it, but why can’t we follow these simple guidelines?
The reason is today’s fast life in the era of Internet and mobile. Yes, they have made our lives easy, but they have also made us impatient.
In today’s world, we want instant gratification
Even a 30-minute Pizza delivery looks like a long waiting time, and we want it in 5-10 minutes
We want to be healthy by doing some quick exercises or eating superfoods
We want to be wealthy by some shortcuts
It’s like we are always in a hurry, as we want quick results…..
but what happens actually…we never reach on time…
Reason: we waste time, energy and money in quick solutions/shortcuts…and still don’t get the desired results even in long duration…
The problem is not the unawareness; in today’s world, information is plentiful and freely available, but the execution.
So, what is the solution?
There are two things we need to understand,
First from the Kabir’s Doha
धीरे-धीरे रे मना, धीरे सब कुछ होय।
माली सींचे सौ घड़ा, ॠतु आए फल होय ।।
Constructions take time, and destruction happens in moments. Whether a baby to a grown-up man, a seed to a fruit-giving tree or constructing a building, anything or everything, it takes it’s own time before giving results. The same thing happens with health and wealth also, there is no shortcut, the earlier we understand this better we will be.
There is this famous quote from Bhagwat Geeta:
“कर्मण्येवाधिकारस्ते मा फलेषु कदाचन।”
(तुम्हारा कर्म करने में ही अधिकार है, फल में कभी नहीं।) — भगवद्गीता 2:47
Nowadays, most of us are always focused on/worried about the results and don’t take the process seriously. Whereas the actual result lies in the process.
This quote tells us that we have to focus on the process, because the process is the only thing which is in our hands, results are not (in fact never) in our control.
Now, the issue is that we know that to get the positive results we need to give time and follow the process but still can’t do it, so what is solution?
Again, coming back to Bhagwat Geeta and Mahabharat, Arjun was a great warrior; however, when he was on the battlefield of Kuruskhetra, his mind and confidence were shaken. Finally, Lord Krishna motivated him for his duties and guided him to see things from the right perspective.
In today’s world
If we want to achieve our goals, we need a motivator, a guide/an advisor as a mentor who can keep us motivated on the right but time-consuming path. It is not that we don’t know how to achieve our goals, but an advisor (mentor) will nudge us in the right direction and keep us motivated in this long and frustrating journey towards our goals. He will help us to keep ourselves out from the distractions and shortcuts to remain focused on our final goals.
Remember:
अगर गुरु है साथ, तो डगर हो कितनी भी मुश्किल।
मंजिल मिल ही जायेगी…आज नहीं तो कल ।।
